Tax Audits
By code, the IRS is allowed to look at up to three (3) years of returns. However, with reasonable cause, and suspicion that your income or revenue has been materially understated, the IRS can look at as many years as they want.
It is extremely important that you have adequate, competent, experienced representation during an IRS audit. Simple questions like, “Do I have to attend the IRS interview?”, or “What happens if the auditor wants to open up another year?” are questions that routinely come up during the audit process. Without representation, you are at the mercy of the auditor and in most cases, you will be uninformed as to your legal rights before, during and after the audit.
We have represented numerous clients facing an IRS audit and we have developed working relationships with the field auditors and the local IRS office staff. We know the tax code, we understand the stress related to an audit, but most importantly, we understand your rights as a taxpayer. Rest assured that if you engage ETS to represent you during an audit, protecting your rights will be our number one concern.
